ABOUT - BSC FORENSIC SCIENCE
Forensic science, a crucial element of the modern day judicial system, applies scientific principles to crime investigation. Forensic scientists utilize modern technology and knowledge from a variety of disciplines to analyze crime scene data, and convert it into legally acceptable evidence. Forensic science is not limited to just crime scenes, but encompasses all aspects of the judicial system.
Forensic Scientist is one of the exceptionally proficient occupations. The Bachelors Degree in Forensic Science in India includes the use of logical information to the examination investigation of crime. Experts in this control apply their insight into science to inspect the confirmation found at crime The Police department, criminological research centers, government labs, and so on will have openings of this specialized activity.
At GITAMS we provides an intellectually challenging study of the full range of Forensic application with advanced curriculum in forensic science. It is a multi-disciplinary course covering physics, biology, chemistry, psychology and law. The teaching methods include practicals, workshops and seminars, field visits to government and private forensic science labs and guest lecturers from renowned forensic scientists, lawyers, and law enforcement officers.
GITAMS provides state of the art laboratories that are equipped with latest analytical and specialised forensic facilities by importing sophisticated lab equipment from foreign countries which are very useful to the career of young forensic scientist..
Eligibility
Intermediate Examination (10+2 pattern) with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry and Bi.P.C/PUC with Science group. Diploma with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry (any two of this)
If you wish to work in a crime laboratory as a Forensic expert or scientist, you must have a thorough grounding in the basic sciences of Chemistry, Biology, Physics and Mathematics. You can pursue Bachelor of Science in Forensic Science after your 12th (CBSE/ICSE) or Intermediate in Sciences.
Course Structure & Syllabus
The course combination is B.Sc Forensic Science with Cyber Forensics and Chemistry. The student at the end of the course will get acquainted with
>> The principles and techniques of the physical and natural sciences to the analysis of the many type of evidence that may be recovered during a criminal investigation
>> To give testimony in the court of Law after evaluating evidence based on specialized training and experience.
>> To train law enforcement personnel in the proper recognition, collection, and preservation of physical evidence.
This course syllabus is structured similar to other Degree Courses. It will have six semester and the students will be exposed to the basic language, english and other skill oriented courses in addition to the combination courses in the first three semesters
Career Scope in Forensic Science
Once the educational degrees are completed, candidates need to start practicing forensic science in Forensic Science Laboratories. They can either start a lab on their own or join Private Forensic Laboratories.
In India, after completion of B.Sc. in Forensic Science, student must proceed with Master of Sciences in Forensic discipline according to their interest in specializations. There various specializations under forensic science like, Forensic Documents Sciences, Forensic Toxicology, Forensic Ballistics, Forensic Psychology & Behavioural Sciences, Forensic Chemistry, etc. which will make candidate specialized in a specific field of Forensic Science.
In Government Sector, State & Central Governments of our country notifies vacancies for various grades of scientists through Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), State Public Service Commission (PSC), Directorate of Forensic Science Laboratories (DFSL), or Staff Selection Commission (SSC), where – Prelims, Mains & Interview processes may also be part of recruitment procedures. Priority will be given to the candidates who are eligible in FACT (Forensic Aptitude & Caliber Test) or FACT �Plus�, UGC NTA NET (National Eligibility Test) in Forensic Science, and sometimes, who have an experience of at least 1 year as intern in Forensic organisations will also help candidate to become Forensic Scientific Assistant, Forensic Lab Assistant, Forensic Technician, CLUES team member etc. Besides above mentioned aspects of careers, CBI, NIA, IB, FPB, DCRB, CCRB, NCRB, WCCB, C-DAC etc. will also recruit Forensic Expert with certain eligibility criterion.
